Remove image backgrounds in Figma
The remove.bg Figma plugin calls the remove.bg API, which closes on 1 December 2026. The lassocut plugin does the same job: select image layers, click once, and each image is replaced by its cut-out, in place.
Status: submitted to the Figma Community and waiting for Figma's review. This page will link to it as soon as it is live.
How it works
- Run lassocut – Remove Background from the Figma menu (Plugins, or Actions in newer versions).
- Paste your API key from your account once; Figma keeps it on your computer.
- Select one or more layers that contain images (frames with images inside work too).
- Pick Preview (free) for mockups or Full resolution (1 credit) for final exports, and click Remove background.
Each image keeps its layer, size, position and crop. Ctrl+Z brings the original back. Layers that share the same image are processed and paid once. It works in Figma, FigJam and Figma Slides.
Questions
Why does a preview look blurry when I zoom in?
A preview is a lower-resolution cut-out (up to 0.25 megapixels) stretched to your layer, so the layout never moves. Use full resolution for anything you export.
What does it cost?

Are my designs uploaded?
Only the images you select are sent to the lassocut API. They are processed in memory and discarded.
Is it the remove.bg plugin?
No. It is written by lassocut and calls the lassocut API. lassocut is not affiliated with remove.bg or Canva.
