LassoCut for designers: cut-outs without leaving your design tool

Exporting an image, cutting it out in a browser tab and placing it back breaks your flow. LassoCut works inside Figma, Photoshop and GIMP, and gives you a transparent cut-out, a colour or an image behind the subject for mockups and client work.

The problem

Client assets rarely arrive clean: product shots on a coloured backdrop, objects with hard shadows, logos on photos. A layout needs the same object on several backgrounds while you explore, then a clean full-size file for delivery. Each round trip to another tool costs a few minutes and loses layer names and positions.

The right tool for you

Figma: cuts out the images in the layers you select, in Figma, FigJam and Figma Slides, without moving or resizing anything. Pending Figma's review; see the Figma guide.
Photoshop: removes the background of the active document and adds the cut-out as a new layer; your original layers are only hidden. Pending Adobe's review; see the Photoshop guide.

An AI assistant: in Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Windsurf, ask “cut out these images and put them on #f4efe6” and the LassoCut connector does it.

Backgrounds for mockups

Transparent: the default PNG, ready to drop on any frame.
A colour, even semi-transparent: bg_color takes a hex code, a hex code with alpha such as 81d4fa77, or a colour name.
An image: bg_image_url or bg_image_file puts your texture or scene behind the subject.
Illustrations and logos: type=graphic tells LassoCut the subject is a graphic rather than a photo.

Drafts can stay on free previews (50 a month, up to 10 a day); you pay for full-size finals only.

Prices in US dollars from the pricing page: 1 credit per full-size image, 0.25 credit per preview, 50 free previews a month (up to 10 a day). No subscription, and purchased credits do not expire. A freelancer rarely needs more than the first pack; agencies sharing one balance across tools use the larger ones.

Questions

Preview or full size for a mockup?

A preview (up to 0.25 megapixels) is enough to test a layout and uses your free previews first. Switch to full size for the file you deliver: it keeps the original resolution, up to 25 MP.

Does the plugin change my existing layers?

No. In Figma nothing is moved or resized; in Photoshop and GIMP the cut-out is a new layer and your original stays in the document.

Can I get a semi-transparent colour behind the subject?

Yes: give bg_color an eight-digit hex code, the last two digits being the opacity, for example 81d4fa77.

Do the credits work in every tool?

Yes. One account and one balance cover Figma, Photoshop, GIMP, the assistant connector, the web app and the API.
